Broncos21. Denver Broncos

DE Jamaal Anderson
Arkansas

The Broncos could really use some offensive line help, but they will elect to address that in later rounds. The talented DE Jamaal Anderson falls in their lap here at 21 and they will not let him slide any farther. Although flying slightly under the radar at Arkansas, Anderson had 13.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for a loss making him exactly what the Broncos need.

Cowboys22. Dallas Cowboys

WR Robert Meacham
Tennessee

The Cowboys desperately need to get younger at wide out and they will be pleasantly surprised when Robert Meacham from Tennessee is still on the board when they pick. With a 4.4 forty time at the Combine, he will be a welcome addition to the Cowboys wide receiver corps. Terry Glenn is getting long in the tooth and Terrell Owens is never far away from a melt down.

Chiefs23. Kansas City Chiefs

CB Aaron Ross
Texas

The Chiefs need fresh legs and depth in their defensive secondary. Even though he would be the fourth cornerback taken in the first round there is still a lot of value there. Ross will be a perfect fit, because he is also a prolific return man and, with the trade of Dante Hall to the Rams, the Chiefs get two needs filled with one pick.

Pats Helmet24. New England Patriots

LB Jon Beason
Miami

The Patriots need to get younger at linebacker and they have had their eye on Miami stand out Jon Beason for a while now. Beason doesn’t have the size or speed of a prototypical linebacker, but he’s the kind of player that the Patriots have been turning into pro-bowlers for years.

Jets25. New York Jets

DE Jarvis Moss
Florida

The Jets overachieved in virtually every area on the field in 2006, but make no mistake, they are a good football team with a bright future. The defense is where head coach Eric Mangini goes with this pick. I believe the Jets will take the pass rushing defensive end out of Florida Jarvis Moss. Moss has great quickness and should compete for a starting position immediately.

Eagles26. Philadelphia Eagles

S Brandon Meriweather
Miami

Safety is a big area of need for the Eagles this off-season as Michael Lewis left via free agency and Brian Dawkins is on the wrong side of thirty. Although, Meriweather was one of the principals in the brawl last year between players from Miami and Florida International, the Eagles won’t be scared away.

Saints27. New Orleans Saints

DT Justin Harrell
Tennessee

The Saints are only a player or two away from another nice run in the NFC. They have addressed their glaring weakness at cornerback with the acquisition of Jason David from the Colts. Head Coach Sean Payton will look for defensive depth with this pick and will find it with the big defensive tackle, Justin Harrell, from Tennessee. Harrell should learn well from Brian Young and Hollis Thomas.

Pats Logo28. New England Patriots

S Michael Griffin
Texas

After taking the linebacker Jon Beason out of Miami with the 24th overall pick the Patriots turn their attention to the best available safety left on the board. Michael Griffin has all of the physical attributes of a free safety and he runs well. Like Beason, Griffin is a good fit for the Patriots defensive system.

Ravens29. Baltimore Ravens

OL Joe Staley
Central Michigan

With Jonathan Ogden nearing the end of his brilliant career, the selection of Joe Staley out of Central Michigan makes perfect sense. Staley is a very athletic lineman with great quickness off the line, but what makes him such a good pick here is his ability to handle speed rushers. This will be very handy at the next level.

Bolts30. San Diego Chargers

WR Dwayne Bowe
Louisiana State

The Chargers biggest position of need is wide receiver. With Keenan McCardell gone and Eric Parker an average player at this level, I see the ’Bolts taking Dwayne Bowe, the very talented wide out from LSU. Bowe is 6’2” and 220 lbs. and runs a 4.4 forty. He is a precise route runner and is tough as nails. The Chargers will be thrilled when he is left on the board for them here.

Bears31. Chicago Bears

OL Justin Blalock
Texas

The Bears will address one of their offensive needs with this pick. OL Justin Blalock will be a good pick here, as he plays both offensive guard and tackle. He is good in pass protection, but is an animal in the running game as the Bears will look to continue pounding the football next year with a resurgent Cedric Benson.

Colts32. Indianapolis Colts

LB Paul Posluszny
Penn State

The mass exodus of defensive players from Indianapolis is staggering. The defending champs will look to plug one of the gaping holes with the selection of tough, hard-nosed Penn State linebacker Paul Posluszny. Although, Posluszny didn’t have the greatest senior campaign, you know exactly what you’re getting with him and the Colts will be elated to have him.
