NFLSorry again for being gone. I keep getting caught out of that “pocket”.

A lot has happened since I last spewed my opinion over these blog waves. I think I have sensory overload, but I’ll start here.

Is it me or is pre-season football unwatchable?? Don’t get me wrong, I’m as big an NFL freak as many of you, but the broadcasts are brutal. I actually get a kick out of watching the guys who are fighting for a roster spot. Think about it, the alternative for a lot of them is having to get a real job like the rest of us which proves to be decent motivation to perform well or, at least, try real hard. The part that kills me is the constant barrage of sideline interviews with starters who didn’t even break a sweat, and the questions are always the same.

“How do you like your team’s chances this season?” and “How are the new guys fitting in to your system?” Just once I would like to hear “…you know, we have worked out really hard this offseason and we’ve had good practices during training camp so far, but it’s just not working for us. We suck!! I mean, we stink on ice and no one from management to the coaching staff has any idea what to do about it. Oh, and the new guys are all from the Pac-10 and the Big-10, so they have no chance of helping.”

Wouldn’t that be classic?? A couple of those interviews and we would actually be able to watch more of the games.

Also, a thought for those of you who think the pre-season should be cut back or even eliminated. There is a lot more to an NFL team and an NFL game than the 60 minutes we get to see. Are you kidding me?? The pre-season is just as much about the various support personnel employed by each team as it is about the players and coaches. Can you imagine what goes into moving that many people and that much equipment from coast to coast each week? …So count me as one who doesn’t mind 4 or 5 practice games so my team can be thoroughly ready to kick the crap out of all of your teams.

Well, I guess that’s about it for my first day back. Come back for more earth-shattering drivel when you can. I understand there is an NFL QB in trouble in Virginia?? Something about people fighting and dogs rolling over or dogs fighting and people rolling over?? Anyway, I’ll blog in your general direction later.
