Sorry folks, I just can’t bring myself to write about the news surrounding Michael Vick today. I’ll leave that to the folks who do that sort of thing.
However, a couple of months ago, this season had some really interesting story lines. Like, are the New Orleans Saints for real? Can the Colts repeat as champions? Can Michael Vick finally prove that he is the quarterback that everyone thought he could be?? This was to be his “do or die” year. Supposedly, he finally had a coach who could make him into a proficient NFL quarterback. Now,you could never accuse me of being a Michael Vick fan, but I was kinda looking forward to watching it.
Fast forward to now, …and I guess we’ve been robbed. We’ll never know what Vick was capable of in Bobby Petrino’s “quarterback friendly” offense. The stories were everywhere that Vick was flourishing in the new system and the Falcon’s offseason programs seemed to be paying huge dividends.
And then…, we get dog fighting, not to mention gambling and,…blah, blah, blah. It looks like Vick won’t even sniff a football field until, at least, 2010 and even then I can’t imagine an NFL owner that would stand in a press conference with Vick and introduce him to any fan base. I can’t believe it, but I actually feel jilted in this whole thing. How sad is that. Whether you’re a Vick fan or not, it has been a bad day for all of us.
