… A few thoughts from this past weekend’s games.
Has it escaped you as it has me, that Brett Favre has ZERO turnovers this preseason?? Are you kidding me?? With one good WR and no real RBs to speak of, I figured Favre would be flinging the ball to anyone who had arms, whether they had a big “G” on their helmet or not. By the way, if you are a Packer fan, you can exhale now, it doesn’t appear that Donald Driver’s injury is as bad as earlier thought.
Barring injuries to key players, the New Orleans Saints should steam roll through the NFC South and make another serious run in the playoffs. Their total thrashing of the Kansas City Chiefs last Thursday should serve notice that the only thing that can stop that high powered offense is, well, …that high powered offense. Oh, on a side note, the Chiefs really are that bad. Herm Edwards seems to be about half way through wrecking his second NFL franchise.
Tom Brady looked very… well, Tom Brady like. Very efficient and in total control of his team and the game. If Randy Moss shows up to play at all, the Patriots are going to be tough to match up with. I know, I know, …that’s going out on a limb. Jake Delhomme actually looked better than I thought he would and probably secured the starting QB job for the Panthers, at least, for a while.
…And then there is Peyton Manning. Is he good or what?? I mean, he was 23/27 for 233 yards and 3 touchdowns in one half. I realize it was against the Lions, but they should be better this year than they have been. I guess the only real question about the Colts is, …the same question as every other year. Can their defense hold opponents to fewer points than Manning and the offense can score?? Thankfully, we’re all about to find out.
Finally,… the last week of the preseason. Enough with the foreplay, let’s get to it!! All there is to do this week is tweak our recipe for wings, make sure we have enough chips and salsa, and fill all refrigerators and coolers with BEER, BEER, BEER, and more BEER!!!! …and did I mention BEER???
