Are You Kidding Me?? Can I really call this entry “The Good Match-ups”? They’re all gonna be good, …because FOOTBALL’S BACK!!!!!!!!

New England PatriotsYou have to admit, though, that not all the games this weekend are stellar matchups. I mean, Atlanta @ Minnesota, Detroit @ Oakland?? I know that for you “Kool-Aid” drinkers it may as well be the Super Bowl, but for those of us who actually live on planet earth, I’ll talk about the “meaningful” matchups. I’ll do a couple today and a couple tomorrow. And now, … on with the show!!

New England @ the J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets (I hate that, by the way)
I think that the Jets success last year was a bit misleading. A lot went their way and Eric Mangini really got a lot out of some nominal players. No matter what anyone says, the Jets have QB issues. I’ve never been sold on Chad Pennington as an everyday NFL QB that will put a team in a position to win every week. They did upgrade at running back this off season with the addition of Thomas Jones, but I believe the Jets need too many things to be just right for them to repeat last year’s success.

The New England Patriots, …enough said!!! The Pats win.

Rex Grossman Chicago BearsThe Bears @ San Diego
Well, it won’t take long for Bears fans to start calling for “Sexy” Rexy’s head. They go to San Diego and open up with a very good Charger team that has enough weapons to go to the Super Bowl. The Bear defense isn’t as good as it was last year and I think that “D” coordinators this year are going to shut down Bernard Berrian. With the departure of Thomas Jones to the Jets the Bears are now a one dimensional running team. Adding Devon Hester to the mix on offense may help some, but he’s not going to be on the field that much. The Chargers win this one.
