We spend a lot of time around here talking smack about this team and that and which teams are gonna kick butt on Sunday, but we were all reminded yesterday that the game of professional football is brutal and very dangerous. I’m writing, of course, about the Buffalo Bills’ reserve tight end, Kevin Everitt who suffered a severe spinal injury in his teams 15-14 loss to the Denver Broncos. The reports, now, are that he will not make a full recovery. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Everitt family and I wish them all the best.

Jacksonville JaguarsPeople in Jacksonville should be very worried. The Jaguars were gashed for 175 yards rushing by the Titan’s starting back-up running back Chris Brown. Outside of Vince Young, the Titans have no weapons to speak of and I don’t know that anyone figured the Jags defense would be this bad.

The Rams proved they are not a playoff caliber team at this point and the Panthers played like they are what everyone thought they would be last year.

New England PatriotsThe Patriots are what we all thought they would be at this point and today we find out they’re cheating by video taping their opponent’s sideline signals. Are You Kidding Me?? What the F*^%!!!!! I’m really not “all about” the Pats, knuckleknob coach Mr. Hoodie. Oh, …and I saw a comment on a blog today that kind of said what I was thinking, perhaps not as eloquently as I would have put it, but it read “J-E-T-S Suck, Suck, Suck!!!” Okay, they probably don’t suck, but I thought it was funny. It may be that they just aren’t that good.

If you’ve read this blog over the last several months, you know that I just don’t get the whole “Brady Quinn thing”, and as much as I hate to say it, the Browns should just put his butt on the field and see if he can play, ’cause goodness knows the other two QBs they have can’t.
The fans wanted him and they may as well get something for their ticket money this year.

Rex Grossman Chicago Bears…and for the shocker of the weekend …“Bad Rex” Grossman showed up in San Diego and managed a whopping 3 points for the defending NFC Champion Chicago Bears. Lovie Smith has to be on crack. He’s had two years to find another QB, but he just won’t do it. Lucky for the rest of the NFC, I guess.

Come back tomorrow and I’ll have an explanation(or at least an excuse) for my picks that went wrong. I just have to figure out who I can blame!!!
