I just got back from the therapist and he told me that my lack of success last week had something to do with my mother and her relationaship to …oh, nevermind!!

Before I get to this week’s picks, …is it me, or are there more season ending injuries to players this year than normal?? Anyone else noticed this?? Oh well, here we go!!

New Orleans Saints NFL FootballCarolina at New Orleans
The Saints have to win this game. There is no other way to put it. They are in last place in the division and an 0-4 start would send them into a tailspin like we haven’t seen in a while. Carolina needs the game to keep pace with the 1st place Buccaneers. The Panthers are better on the road than they are at home, but it looks like David Carr will be at the helm again this week. Against my better judgement, I’m gonna pick the Saints for a fourth straight week and say they win it with a late field goal.

The Jets at the Giants
Don’t these teams play in the same stadium?? Do the coaches arm wrestle to see who the home team is going to be?? Anyway, the “bi-polar” Giants will beat the underachieving Jets handily. The Giants defense is playing better and Chad Pennington has yet to get on track. However, it will be fun to watch Jet’s tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson take on Osi Umenyiora all day. Say that 3 times fast.

Seattle at Pittsburgh
This is one of the “who knows” games of the week to me. The Steelers should win this game at home, but after last week, I’m not so sure. I still think that the Seahawks are overrated, but they keep winning. I just can’t pick against the Steelers at home, so I say they win it 24-17.

Arizona at St. LouisArizona Cardinals NFL Football
The Cardinal’s surprising win over the Steelers last week is exciting. I think they would have found a way to lose that game last year. The quarterback situation there right now has me “weirded” out a bit. I guess it’s working, but it doesn’t seem like Matt Leinart likes it too much. The Rams are just a mess all over the field and won’t be able to stop all of Arizona’s weapons. They will keep it close at home, but the Cards will win it by 4.

Miami at the Texans
Here’s another game that is anyone’s guess. Houston should have it’s way with the Dolphins here, but I thought the same thing last week against the Falcons. I just don’t see the Dolphins scoring enough points to beat anyone right now, so I’m taking the Texans.

Detroit at Washington
Actually, I think this will be one of the better games of the week. The Lions are feeling pretty good offensively and I’m just not sure how good the Redskins are in any phase of the game. If Washington shows up like they did on Monday night a few weeks ago, they can beat any team in the league. However, since that game, they haven’t looked great. The key for me here is the home field and I believe the Redskins will find a way to win it.

New England Patriots NFL FootballCleveland at New England
The Patriots are playing as well as anyone ever has right now. The Browns have been better than anyone expected, but there is no way they go into Foxboro and beat the Pats. The Patriots will continue to roll.

There you have the first half of this week’s picks. Come back tomorrow so I can dazzle you further. Have a great day.
