I was 11-3 this week with my picks. Apparently, the planets lined up right. Still not where I want to be, mind you, But I’ll take it.
A few thoughts from around the league:
The performance of Tony Romo Monday night was frightening. I keep hearing the comparisons to Brett Favre and I guess the part about Romo being a gunslinger is accurate, but he doesn’t have the arm strength that Favre has, so when he throws into tight coverage, like he did most of the night in Buffalo, he just looks stupid. Also, everyone seems to be talking about how they can’t understand how the Bills could have lost the game, …well, did it occur to anyone that the Bills offense scored exactly 3 points all night??? DUH!!!!! Oh, and by the way, I don’t care about the Cowboys or the Bills personally, but calling timeouts at the end of halves and the end of games to make kickers kick field goals twice is terrible. Now, before you Broncos, Raiders, and now Cowboys fans email me and tell me it’s not against the rules, let me say, …I get that. However, it is poor sportmanship and where in the rules does it say that the kicker should have to make two field goals for his team to get 3 points??
Is it me, or are the New Orleans Saints the only team in the NFL not able to make a game winning field goal in the final minute?? It seems everyone else did.
Jake Delhomme is going to have season ending “Tommy John” surgery on his right elbow. Isn’t that a baseball thing?? …Weird. David Carr now takes over the Panther offense permanently. I’ve said, for a while now, that he would have the starting job by mid-season, but I didn’t think it would take an injury to get it, but technically, I WAS RIGHT!!! Just call me Nostradamus.
Oh Man, did Byron Leftwich suck?? Are You Kidding Me?? By benching Joey Harrington Sunday, I think head coach Bobby Petrino lost all credibility with the Falcons players. I said a couple of weeks ago that the Falcons weren’t as big a mess as everyone was saying, well… I take that back. It’s now just a matter of time before they completely implode.
It was reported on the four letter sports network this morning that Vinny Testaverde would probably sign with the Arizona Cardinals and Tim Rattay had been contacted by multiple teams to discuss their quarterback issues. WOW!!! Does this say something about the state of quarterbacks on the open market or what???
Come back tomorrow for some more thoughts and randon stupidity about the crazy world that we call the NFL and remember to check back Thursday for my picks for the upcoming week.
