As it turns out, it was “injured” Rex Grossman that showed up in Washington last night. The game turned out being more like a scene from M*A*S*H than anything else. Players were going down like flies on both sides. I believe, in the end, the right team won and kept it’s season alive. That makes me 1-0 in my pursuit of perfection this week, by the way.
Now, on with the show!!
Miami at Buffalo
Do I have to pick this game?? My gut feeling is both teams will lose!! The Bills play tough, hard nosed football, but they have no talent. The Dolphins are a train wreck in all phases of the game. Having said all that, the Bills will rout the “fish”, 31-10.
Tampa Bay at Houston
The Buccaneers are coming off a huge win against the Saints while the Texans are getting over a disappointing defeat to the Titans. The game will be played in Houston where the Texans are 3-2 on the season. I think the Bucs are too good for the Texans to handle over the course of 60 minutes. Tampa Bay will win it, 24-13.
San Diego at Tennessee
We’re getting to the part of the season where teams that have everything to play for are playing teams who have nothing to play for. That makes it difficult to forecast some of this stuff. So I’m simply going to look into my crystal ball and say that the Chargers will go into Nashville and beat the Titans ending their hope at the post season. The Chargers will roll, 23-16.
Carolina at Jacksonville
The Panthers head south to face the Jaguars. Although Jacksonville lost to the Colts last week, they are playing as well as anyone in the AFC sans the Patriots. The Panthers aren’t going to beat any team of substance with their QB situation as it is. I’ll take the Jags in a good game at home, 27-24.
New York Giants at Philadelphia
The Giants drive down I-95 to face the Eagles in Philly. The G-men are 2 games clear of any other team still in the Wild Card chase. They should be able to waltz into the playoffs while the Eagles have to keep winning to keep any hope for their season alive. McNabb is going to play which bodes well for the Giants. He has reached a point where he does more harm than good when on the football field. If he plays poorly in this game the divorce with the fans in Philadelphia will be finalized. I say the Giants prevail and the Eagles officially enter their rebuilding mode for next season. The score will be 17-16.
Arizona at Seattle
This week’s bird bowl has the Cardinals traveling up to the “coffee capital” to play the Seahawks. These two teams are so evenly matched. Neither of them is great at anything and neither of them are horrible at anything. I don’t know why they don’t just call the game off and all go bowling. Anyhoo, The Seahawks will find a way to make one more play than the Cards will. The score will be a robust, 21-17.
Minnesota at San Francisco
The Vikings have made themselves into that team that no one wants to play in the first round of the playoffs. The 49ers are easily one of the biggest disappointments of 2007 in the NFL. The Vikes have everything to play for and the 9ers simply want to get the season overwith. I think the Vikings win this game in a walk, 31-13.
Pittsburgh at New England
I don’t think this game will be as good as everyone thinks it will. The Patriots will be tired of all the talk about a “blueprint” for beating them. Pittsburgh is the top ranked defense in the NFL. OK, let’s talk about that for a minute. Remember, that is a statistical distinction!! THEY LOST TO THE JETS AND BRONCOS!!!!! The Patriots haven’t lost to anyone and they don’t have the top ranked defense. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? The Steelers have no chance to win this game. I hope I haven’t been unclear about this!! The Pats will cover the 10 point spread easily, 42-17.
Cleveland at the New York Jets
I have to admit it. The Browns are a nice football team. Derek Anderson is a good story and Braylon Edwards is claiming his spot as an elite wide receiver in the league. Kellen Winslow seems to be content with keeping his mouth shut and playing football this year. The Jets are a tire fire and I don’t think anyone in the organization has a clue as to what to do about it. They’re not going to figure it out this weekend, however. The Browns will roll 31-16.
Kansas City at Denver
In this week’s edition of the “Who Cares” bowl, the Chiefs head to the “Mile High City” to take on the Broncos. Neither team will muster much of an offensive attack and neither team can play much defense. It will be at least the second quarter before the Chiefs catch their breath from the pregame warmups, so I’m gonna take the home team in this pillow fight, 17-13.
Indianapolis at Baltimore
The interesting thing in this game for me is whether Kyle Boller can play “out of his mind” again like he did against the Patriots last week. My gut feeling is NO!! The Ravens will be flat and the Colts will get back to the form they showed earlier this year. I’ll take them on the road, 27-17.
New Orleans at Atlanta
The Saints remaining four games set up nicely for them to continue the nightmare for their fans. They will be able to win just enough to make everyone think they can make the playoffs, but in the end they will miss out by one game. Probably a bad decision by the coaching staff late in the final game of the year with the playoffs on the line. Anyway, they go up to Atlanta to play the Falcons on Monday night. QB Chris Redmon gets the start for the Falcons which means he will have a great debut as most young QBs do againt the Saints “D”. In the end, though, I believe the Saints will out run and outscore the “Dirty Birds”, 24-20. I can’t believe I said that.
Well, there are the rest of my picks for the week. 16-0 is a cinch!! Have a great week everybody!!

2Yeah, I don’t know what’s up with the Texans. It seems they can only beat the NFC South.

3That goes to show you that the NFC South and the AFC West are the weakest divisions this year.
