You have to admit, I’m good at picking Thursday night games. I’m not sure if that means anything though. Anyway, I’m 3-0 this year and well on my way to 16-0 for the week. Now on with it!!

Matt Hasselbeck Seattle Seahawks NFL FootballSeattle at Carolina
The Seahawks are surging at the right time of year. Matt Hasselbeck is playing “lights out” again and their defense has found it’s form. The Panthers would like for this nightmare of a season to be overwith. They are 1-5 at home and still have major problems at the quarterback position. I have to go with the Seahawks here, 27-16.

Arizona at New Orleans
The Cardinals go to the “Big Easy” to take on the Saints. Arizona’s Kurt Warner is 3-0, lifetime, against the Saints in the Superdome. However, that was with the high flying Rams. He leads his underachieving Cards into a game that the Saints need desperately. I realize that the two teams have identical records, but the Saints hold all the tie-breakers among the teams in the Wild Card race. As bad as the Saints can be at home, I’m gonna take them in very tight game, 27-26. Oh yeah, Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald will have 23 catches for 638 yards each against Jason David. They’ll just take turns running by him.

Jacksonville at Pittsburgh
Does Pittsburgh ever play on the road?? Oh yeah, they lose when they do!! Anyhow, The Jaguars are still playing very good football and the Steelers are still wondering what that was that B#*ch slapped them last Sunday night. I don’t think the Steelers are an elite team in the AFC, but neither are the Jags. The weather will be a factor in this game, so I’ll take Pittsburgh to win, 17-14.

Indianapolis Colts NFL FootballIndianapolis at Oakland
Oh Dear!! This one has the makins’ of a Stephen King movie. Josh McNown, …McDoogle, …McCown or something is starting at QB for the Raiders. Jamarcus Russell has been “penciled in” to play a couple of series and I guess Daunte Culpepper is going to just kinda “take up space”. None of this really matters, of course, because the Colts are going to score on every single play they have the ball. This one will be as ugly as nine acres of garlic by the second quarter. I figure 37-13 should do it.

Detroit at San Diego
A couple of weeks ago Jon Kitna was looking pretty smart with his 10 win prediction for the Lions. Now, after losing 5 in a row, he is just looking for something to go right. They picked a bad place to go to find a win. The Chargers are playing much better of late and should win this match-up pretty easily at home. I’ll say it will be, 27-17.

Dallas Cowboys NFL FootballPhiladelphia at Dallas
Donovan McNabb is back at QB for the Eagles, but they are really just playing out the last days of his tenure there. The Cowboys have turned themselves into the best team to come out of the NFC in a while. What’s more, the Cowboys are at home and the crowd will be into it. Dallas will win this game by at least 10.

Washington at New York Giants
This is an interesting match-up. The Redskins come into this game in the Wild Card picture, but have to rely on their back-up QB to lead them. The Giants have very little to play for as they have all but sewn up the first Wild Card spot in the playoffs. Who knows what you’re going to get with Eli Manning in this situation. I think the Redskins call on the memory of their fallen teammate again and find a way to outlast the Giants. The score will be 20-17.

Kyle Orton Chicago Bears NFL FootballChicago at Minnesota
There is a “gaggle” of teams at 6-7 dying for the Vikings to lose. It’s been a while since Minnesota played for anything this late in the season. The Bears are going with Kyle Orton at quarterback in this game. If you’ll remember, he started 15 games for the Bears a couple of years ago as a rookie and held his own pretty well. Deep in my heart I think the Bears defense and special teams come up big and limit RB Adrian Peterson on the ground. I just don’t believe that QB Tarvaris Jackson is going to beat anybody through the air when the post season is on the line. I’ll take the Bears on the road, 21-17.

And again, there you have it!! Read it and weep. I know I always do!! Anyway, enjoy the weekend and I’ll blog again at you later.
